Engineering & Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Value Engineering
Looking For A Proactive, Solution-Oriented Partner & Not Just A Build-To-Print Vendor?
Engineering Support is Central to how we work!
Engineering involvement and collaboration is essential to how we work. The customer is at the center of everything we do! We partner with customers early to provide design-for-manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFMA) feedback, tolerance reviews (GD&T), material recommendations, parts consolidation, and other value-engineering opportunities that reduce cost without compromising performance. Our engineers collaborate directly with your design and sourcing teams to shorten development cycles, eliminate complexity and uncertainty, and create products that are easier and more economical to build. You can trust that our engineering team becomes an extension of your internal resources working towards a common goal.
FabTech-IGM engineering team consists of electrical, mechanical, industrial and lean manufacturing/process engineering professionals. Along with empowering our fabrication and integration experts, we are continually finding ways to improve the overall process and increase quality for our customers. We challenge our team on a regular basis to think differently. This has resulted in countless suggestions every year for cost reductions and improved quality that our customers can rely on.
The breadth of the team allows us to take a holistic approach to our customer projects. We start with the initial customer conversations, high-level design reviews, and dive into component level review all the way through to a very comprehensive NPI release process. Once released to production, our focus shifts to continually improve through our lean manufacturing and engineering activities.
Our engineering team will collaborate extensively with your teams to understand all critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements. These requirements will be documented for manufacturing and quality. Every project will be mapped through our Product Realization Checklist to ensure that we cover all aspects of the project including fixtures, test equipment or even specialized training. We capture every detail to ensure world-class quality is delivered every time.
FabTech-IGM has a robust Engineering Change Request and Engineering Change Notification (ECR/ECN) process that we follow to document and implement any changes to the product specifications, the product output or manufacturing process. Our agile processes can accommodate immediate customer change implementations through a Temporary Deviation Notification (TDN). The FabTech-IGM engineering team supports all of our customers through the lifecycle of their products and assemblies.
